A scary night that was..!

All three of us were in a celebration mood as it was my roommate’s birthday and it was obvious to go out for a treat. After spending couple of hours on deciding the location, we finally decided that we would try a lake side restaurant which had very good ambiance and Google said the food was good too. So, we had to give it a try.

The place was around 20 kms away and we had a booking for 8.30 pm, presuming we “would” leave by 7.30 pm. It’s nothing unusual for girls to get late by 2 hours when we decide to go out , as it takes time to change at least 5 dresses and finally come up with the final one(that too depending on what others are wearing ;-) ). No surprises, started from home at 9.30 pm! Finally, we managed to reach the place in next half an hour. Little did we realize that we are too late. We took our own sweet time to order food and kept ourselves engaged in gossips, photo shoots and so on! When it was time to order dessert, we were already full but could not resist the temptation to have chocolate fudge with vanilla ice cream! Slurp..! The prompt reaction on getting the same served on our table was - “That’s it?” :-O (that was while the waiter for still serving) It was too less to quench our temptation! But, the restaurant manager gave us the clear indication to bid good bye to them by placing the bill on our table before the dessert :-) So , we could not order any more. But, we still wanted to spend few minutes on the lake side in the restaurant discussing the history of the lake and anything and everything we could discuss to get few more minutes before we go home.

And the real fun starts now! We come out of the place and see absolutely no one on the road but 2-3 stray dogs and few bike riders who wanted to show off the maximum speed they can drive at! And suddenly a ray of hope – we see one rickshaw but luck didn’t favor us as the auto driver was waiting for someone else. Oops, we were in thoughts to reach back home, and there we see another rickshaw coming towards us. But, we could see a guy already in there, but it seems it was the auto driver’s buddy. So, we were good. As usual we bargained with him for the fare(though it was not a good time to try our bargaining skills :-)) . But, suddenly we’re reminded of a review page I’d read on safety – “don’t take rickshaws which has 1 more guy with the driver during late nights as it’s not safe” and there we are at square 1! After waiting for few minutes, alas, had no choice other than that boarding the same auto.

Nothing unusual, we got lost in our restaurant postmortem discussion. And we didn’t realize the way the auto driver was taking. After a while, one of us noted that it’s a not that familiar a way. But, we didn’t think much on it and continued our discussion, thinking those guys are taking some short cut way which we aren’t aware of. Instead of the usual main road, it was some residential colony, where you can see nothing but few lights and dogs barking and that’s all. In a bit, 2 police walas crossed us on a bike and they stared at us. But, that didn’t gave us some hint that they might turn back but their bike’s front light turning towards us, did the same. They took a U turn and started interrogating. Trust me, it was not that scary but then when they asked us to get down from the auto at a place( which was completely unfamiliar to us) took my breath.

And now 3 girls, 1 auto driver, his buddy and 2 police men on a lonely road at 12.00 am..here starts the bollywood movie scene….(to be continued)

P.S : I'm narrating this story on my friend's behalf! I wish I was a part of it. :-)
