A scary night that was..!

All three of us were in a celebration mood as it was my roommate’s birthday and it was obvious to go out for a treat. After spending couple of hours on deciding the location, we finally decided that we would try a lake side restaurant which had very good ambiance and Google said the food was good too. So, we had to give it a try. The place was around 20 kms away and we had a booking for 8.30 pm, presuming we “would” leave by 7.30 pm. It’s nothing unusual for girls to get late by 2 hours when we decide to go out , as it takes time to change at least 5 dresses and finally come up with the final one(that too depending on what others are wearing ;-) ). No surprises, started from home at 9.30 pm! Finally, we managed to reach the place in next half an hour. Little did we realize that we are too late. We took our own sweet time to order food and kept ourselves engaged in gossips, photo shoots and so on! When it was time to order dessert, we were already full but could not resist the tempt...

"Maharashtra ki special lassi!"

"Maharashtra ki special lassi, Maharashtra ki special lassi"!! :) :) Its sounds like I've taken up a new job (after getting bugged up with software industry :P), but let me clarify, nothing like that :) Also, here I really don't want to convey I like lassi(infact, I've never had it as I don't like it) but the other word in the sentence "Maharashtra" is what makes me to write this blog, within few minutes of hearing it in through a hawker in train! This is exactly how it feels when you hear you very own state's name in the journey which takes you through 3 states! Starting from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh,(which is my host state.Even after more than 9 months here, I still feel I'm a guest here :( ), then through quite a few cities in Karnataka like Gulbarga and then MY state "Maharashtra" :) Infact, when my cell phone shows the coverage city and if its some city in Maharashtra,(like now its showing Solapur) that gets a smile on my fac...

Acceptance in Life has no alternative!

Remember the last time when you were asked to do a project in office which you hated the most, assigned work with a "team mate" (working with whom is the last thing in life you would like to do :P, annual hike (?),serious fight with your best buddy, last Good bye to someone(not sure if you will see the person ever again or not :( ) and the list continues....I am sure all of us would have come across one of these, may be few hours back or few days back or may be few months back. And then, we don't miss to repeat those instances to all our friends who tend to show sympathy to us( no matter how long the list of sympathetic friends is, we don't mind to tell our so called "woes" over and again) These are the times when things just happen contradictory to our expectations. At first, it seems sometimes "life is being very rude to us", "We are being treated in the most ruthless way possible", "why ONLY me!" and the stream of negative t...

An hour before reaching the railway station, an hour at the railway station and then, an hour in the train!

After 2 weeks of hectic work schedule, working from 9 am to 4 am(yes its not a typo, its 4 am) and then baking a cake(as a surprise to be taken for Mumma) the following day, and FINALLY sleeping for 9 hrs is nothing surprising! Alas! Not even started the packing when only 2 hours left to leave for the railway station.Gosh! It tested my level of concentration to pack stuff to collect all IMP document I might need at home for investmenst this year, starting with pan card, photographs etc tc.. a planned trip to my native place which turned to be such a hassle!..Innocent me said : ‘I’m not responsible for all this..its work, then maid, then….” :) Although I know very well , it’s no one , other than me, myself. Now, the real excitement starts. Clock said only 55 mins left to reach the station..where the distance to be covered is 15 kms + Hyderabad’s traffic + Hyderabad’s buses + my luggage(as alwys too much..)… “Koi na ji..I’ll reach pakka se..” Inspite of so much traffic, I reached the ...

Wonderful experience.."Hyderabad 10 K Marathon" www.hyderabad10k.com

After registering for Hyderabad 10 K which was to be held on 28th Nov 2010, when I was actually showing off to my friends that I'm participating in Marathon(I didn't disclose though that I'm participating as "Amateur Runner" :P )..the comments were - "You gonna break your leg this time after you recently had neck sprain" , "Do you know what is 10 K ? Its 1* 10 = 10 KMS..you'll fall flat on your face!!! " Gosh! All of these dissuading comments, persuaded me more to participate in the marathon!! And then a day before the marathon, I got an invitation for my friend's wedding reception(20 kms away from my place!) and I returned at 2 am..I'd a cab pickup for the marathon at 6 am! Now, the actual play started..(I'm hearing two voices starting 2.30 am) Voice 1 : " Ankita, its TOO late..you'll miss the cab for sure..so better don't even try to get up.Have good sleep". Voice 2 : "Oh Ankita, you can , its...

Analysis of my unending thoughts..

After looking at the first question paper of mid sem exams of MS BITS Pilani last weekend, I was emotionless, speechless and .....no words.. The question paper appeared to me as if I am reading the terms in the subject for the very first time .... :( Then I decided that I really had to sit back and analyse on what went wrong eventhough I had prepared pretty well.. After the weekend, today I got some time to actually analyse whats going on in my mind and the reason of me, not being able to complete most of my things..although I had planned things well Thankfully, I could figure out somethng.. Everybody gets 24x60x60 seconds in a day (the multiplication answer is going to be huge which will make me conscious of the seconds I get hence left as it.. :P ) One makes the most out of it while the other is not just bothered to even count it...(actually lucky chaps.. :)) But, then there are some like me ..who keep planning of how to use those seconds Sometimes I feel "Is that planning tak...

First lesson of professional life : Amazing experience, A Great lesson learnt! :)

This funny incident(Thankfully funny..else it could have been a disaster as well...) happened during my early days in IBM ISL..I was working for a product and then I was asked to work on some incubation project with my colleague who is a very senior person and one of those techy geeks in ISL..whom I respect a lot and I always forward to do things as he has been doing..He is just a phenomenal person.(Let me not reveal his identity..let me name him 'ABC' :P )..Well he is my mentor now as well as recently he has joined my team as lead(Feeling fortunate to work again with him..) So the incident goes as follows...It was (as usual)a very sleepy afternoon after having lunch..but cannot help it..had to work because my manager use to sit just a seat after mine and if even used to get up from his seat he can easily see my TP( BTW, TP means IBM ThinkPad..i.e laptop..)So, cannot even open orkut and other TP stuff(TP now means Time Pass :P ) Now, working with 'ABC', was a very good ...
